Get ready to dive into your newest obsession! This lesson is the perfect starting point for beginners looking to learn mahjong in a fun and friendly environment.

Mahjong 101 is $85/person and includes a 2024 NMJL playing card ($15 value). A minimum of 4 players are required for a private lesson (but the more, the merrier!) and lessons last between 2 and 2.5 hours. Here's what you can expect to learn:

Understanding the tiles
Decoding the NMJL playing card
Practice building winning lines
and more!

Lessons outside of Chicago have an additional $100 travel fee (per lesson). This session goes hand-in-hand with Mahjong 102 and it is recommended that you schedule that lesson a week after your first.

A minimum of 4 players are required for a private lesson. If you don't have 4 people, keep an eye out for any of our events or small group lessons! They'll be announced on our Instagram page and to our mailing list.

Ready for more mahjong? This lesson is a follow-up to Mahjong 101, so make sure you schedule that one first!

Mahjong 102 is $70/person and lasts 2 to 2.5 hours. A minimum of 4 players are required for a private lesson (but the more, the merrier!). Here's what you can expect to learn:

After this lesson, you and your friends will be ready to begin playing on your own! If you'd like a little more time to practice, however, be sure to check out Mahjong 103: Assisted Play.

If you've completed the first two lessons or are looking for a mahjong refresher, try assisted play!

Assisted Play costs $65/person and lasts approximately 2 hours. Here's what you can expect to learn:

Gameplay with guidance/assistance from an instructor
Charleston strategy
Additional gameplay strategy tips and discussion

This is a great capstone course - once you've completed all three lessons in the beginner's series, you should be ready to play on your own!
